The Everlasting Snowsuit

In September of 1969, we moved our family from Mesa, Arizona, to Washington, D.C. for my husband's AFIP Fellowship. As the weather turned cold, my little girls grew anxious for their first snowfall. I bought the "everlasting snowsuit" for my third daughter who was in kindergarten. I had no idea what a bargain I was getting for $15.00. The snowsuit survived that winter season of heavy use and then was packed away for our move to Houston, Texas. A couple of years later we returned to Mesa, Arizona and brought the unused snowsuit with us. Although we had no snow in Mesa, we occasionally drove up in the mountains to play in the snow. We also visited Grandparents in Utah. The "everlasting snowsuit" was worn by each of our subsequent four children on such occasions. It kept them warm during their first ski lessons and when they rode sleds down the hill of the golf course near our Grandparents home. I was grateful for the simplicity of design and the cheerful red color of the snowsuit, because it was happily worn by both our daughters and our sons. Eventually, our youngest son outgrew the suit, so we left it at Grandma's house for our California and Arizona cousins to wear when they came to visit. When it was too small for the cousins, I brought it home to our new house in Utah for my grandchildren who come from Arizona to visit us. The picture shows Grandson Benjamin wearing it this year. You can see it will fit him for another year or two. I am confident that the "everlasting snowsuit" will yet keep my great-grandchildren warm when they come to visit.
